Late, late comment - I'm not at all sure what sort of creature the black shadowy *mystery* is, but from the context in which you've shown it, we know that it is a WEALTHY *mystery*, perhaps FABULOUSly wealthy, and quite comfortably placed in life - and because of this, will have Power and Influence. That will make all the difference in how others react (or defer) to it, whether it is evil or benign.
as for that shadow... is that new antagonist lycian?
